Sad and lonely

Sometimes you’re sad and lonely, sometimes you feel blue
You’ll ask yourself, “why me?” and “what am I to do?”
You’ll notice so much change around you, it won’t feel so good
You’ll battle so much darkness, much more than someone should
Some nights you go to sleep, wishing you had the moon
You’ll wake up in the morning; whole voice is out of tune
You’ll feel that much better days, are for certain yet to come
Your goal will be so far away, yet your feet will be so numb
When you’re sad and lonely, your world feels way off pace
Time goes by so quickly, it’s hard to find your place
You feel there is no hope, nothing you can do
It seems you’ve lost a step, it’s sad but it is true
But then you look up, you see the sun does shine
You understand right then, your life is pretty fine
So many days it’s been there, that big star in the sky
As bright as it does shine, you feel like you could fly
You’ll find something inside of you, which makes you want to glow
And then a spark will start in you, you’ll find a brand new flow
These feelings that you’ll feel, they won’t last for long
So make the best of it, maybe put them in a song
That’s when you will realize, you have so much to give
Go climb some tall mountain, get out there and live
At the end of every rainbow, there is a pot of gold
So get out there and find it, don’t wait till you are old

A Bad Day

What a terribly horrible, worthless bad day,

You find it hard even to smile.
Walking alone, as rain falls on you,

you feel you’ve been going for miles.
No sun in sight, the sky gloomy as ever,

No chance of you hitting your stride.
It seems like nobody cares about you,

and nobody would cry if you died.
You find yourself tattered, slipping and falling.

Wondering, when will it end?
No longer going straight on your path,

it feels like the road sharply bends.
But after a while, the rain slowly stops,

and things start looking better.
You realize then that this is your chance,

you have to go out and getter.
With so little to lose on such a bad day,

what will it hurt if you try?
Just stand up tall, stop hanging your head,

spread your wings and fly.

There’s a time to be sad and a time to be mad,

but don’t let today be the day.
If you search really hard, and never give up,

there’s no doubt that you’ll find your way.

Sunshine

I wish it would rain sunshine                     I wish it would rain sunshine
Just sunshine everyday                             That would be a perfect storm
I’d collect some in my pocket                    For instead of snow and rain,
And save it for the darkest day                  It would shower us with warm

I wish it would rain sunshine                     I wish it would rain sunshine
So we’d have a pleasant breeze                 The sweet things that it would do
Some days it would rain so much sun         It could brighten someone’s day
We’d have such shiny trees                      Or maybe shine a light for you

I wish it would rain sunshine                     I wish it would rain sunshine
So on summer’s brightest days                 Oh, how special that would be
There would be sunshine puddles              For the greatest gift of any
We could splash people with rays              Is sunshine for you and me

I wish it would rain sunshine
I’m sick of all the snow
If only sun-drops fell sometimes                  ©2013 J. J. Close
Our world would really glow

I wish it would rain sunshine

We could have a sunshine fight
We’d make sunshine angels
Even in the dark of night

I wish it would rain sunshine
I would catch it as it fell
I wonder what it tastes like
And how sunshine would smell

Etch them in your Heart

When somebody leaves you, you’re sad that they’re gone,
You don’t know what you’ll do, you won’t want to go on.
This life that you’re living, how fragile it seems,
The gift that keeps giving, shows only in dreams.
This time spent together, as memories grow,
Helps battle the weather, much more than you know.
Your heart, it will heal, but that hole never fills,
It’s something you feel, and it gives you the chills.
‘Cause although they are gone, they’ll always stay inside,
When you choose to move on, after all tears are cried.
You’ll feel it inside you, it resonates there,
It’s helping you get through the wear and the tear.
For although you feel drained, please know that you’re whole,
For their spirit remains, it resides in your soul.
It lives there forever, their memory stays,
So think of them always, on saddest of days.
Think of their laughter, when you can’t help but cry,
Smile then after, wipe the tears from your eyes.
For they’re up above, with a halo and wings,
Wrapped up in a love, that memory brings.
So sketch in their name, on the walls of your heart,
Put their picture to frame, make their memory art.
For once this much is done, all the tears will subside,
For within your own heart, part of them never died.

Starclouds

One day the stars will fall, the clouds will rise,
The moon like a balloon will float away.
The stars will shine within the bright blue skies,
In space the clouds will race all day and play.

On rainy days the stars will fall below,
The ground will burn, a fury flame will start.
People will pray they get some rain or snow,
The clouds above will want to do their part.

But up in space when each cloud tries to cry,
“No gravity” will keep each tear inside.
No hope for those below, they all will die,
And none will know a cloud had ever tried.

So do not wish a star to take clouds place,
For stars belong in deep of outer space.

To be a Human Being.

Oh, to be a human being,
You’ll need a thickened shell.
While it might not help for fleeing,
It will serve you very well.

For there’s some who’ll try to stop you,
As you head for that hill.
They’ll say it’s far too hard for you,
And you don’t have the skill.

You can work at it forever,
You’ll never reach the peak.
Though you’ll think your route is clever,
Your feet are far too weak.

They’ll put you down with sticks and stones,
And twist you till you break.
They’ll trip you up, rattle your bones,
And leave you in their wake.

The sky then might just fall on you,
And crush your weakened soul.
The fight will cease inside of you,
You’ll find you’re in a hole.

When things get hard and troublesome,
You’ll want to just give in.
You’ll think of what you could become,
But how would you begin?

Will your route be walked and paved in?
Or is it somewhere new?
Will you leave the hole you’re trapped in?
Or will it swallow you?

Do you have the guts to climb out?
You think you’re strong enough?
Or within you is there more doubt,
Than all the other stuff?

You might decide to just fall down,
And let the sky cave in.
You’ll let the clouds become your crown,
Sunlight become your skin.

But that’s when you should climb on out,
And push against the sky.
You’ll make it out, without a doubt,
Just spread your wings and fly.

The light will shine quite bright for you,
You’ll climb out of that hole.
You’ll figure out what’s right for you,
As you reach for your goal.

The stairway to the top is there,
It’s right ahead my friend.
You just must be prepared to care,
As you climb to the end.

For if your heart does not take part,
You’ll likely stumble down.
And left behind as stairway art,
Strung out along the ground.

So bring your suitcase, pack your bags,
Your journey will be tough.
Hit up a thrift shop, pop some tags,
Load up on cheaper stuff.

Prepare yourself for failure, son,
Bring only what you need.
For only once your work is done,
It’s then you will succeed.

For it’s not about the starlight,
It’s not about the fame.
Yes, it’s all about how you fight,
And how you play the game.

And will you struggle?  Yes, you will!
Don’t let it get to you.
For though your path is all up hill,
There’s nothing you can’t do.
